Why is the formula brown as opposed to the purple color I expected?

Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley, like any other Functional Formularies formula, has a 2-year shelf life and a 12 hour hang time. Achieving these goals requires that the formula be heated to assure that the whole foods have no microbial activity. This heat processing often results in a change in color of the berries.

Who should use Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley rather than Liquid Hope Peptide?

The two can be used by adults somewhat interchangeably unless you have a tree nut allergy. In that instance, only Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley would be appropriate because Liquid Hope Peptide contains almond butter and would not be appropriate for those with a tree nut allergy.

In addition, there are slight differences in the amount of macronutrients so it is best to follow the guidance of your clinician when determining which formula to use. The biggest difference is the type of fiber found in Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley vs Liquid Hope Peptide. Liquid Hope Peptide gets a considerable amount of its fiber from chickpeas in the form of galactooligosaccharide or GOS. Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley contains a considerable amount of its soluble fiber content in the form of pectin. Different types of fiber have different effects on aspects of digestion such as transit time and frequency of bowel movements.

This difference, as well as the polyphenols and lower pH of Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley, may be very beneficial to the microbiome over time. Some adults, however, may not tolerate the more acidic Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley as well.

Why are there different types of berries in Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley?

Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley has both blueberries and cranberries.

  • Blueberries contain the potent antioxidant anthocyanin which helps protect healthy cells against free radicals that form in the body.
  • Cranberries have a unique ability to support critical families of gut friendly bacteria. In addition, they contain the lowest level of sugar of any type of berry.

Can I use Liquid Hope Peptide and Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley interchangeably?

By combining both products, you will get a combined total of 25 unique fruit and vegetable ingredients. There are some subtle differences in macronutrients, micronutrients, and ingredients. Because of these differences we encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider to see if using both products interchangeably is appropriate for your individual and unique healthcare needs. Additionally, those with a tree nut allergy should NOT use Liquid Hope Peptide due to the almond butter ingredient. Liquid Hope Peptide Berry Medley is free of the top 9 major allergens, so it would be appropriate for those with a tree nut allergy.
