WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

Liquid Hope and Nourish are the worlds first shelf stable organic whole foods feeding tube formulas and oral meal replacements. Robin created these formulas using the Functional Medicine or Food as Medicine model, so each ingredient has been chosen for its potential to promote health and vitality and its ability to support the body's natural immune system.

Let us explain the FACTS, with sources to back them up.

These days there is a lot of misinformation and 'alternative facts' floating around. Just because someone says they are the same or better does not make it true. Please take the time to explore the facts and sources on this page.

In the end it is important to do your own research. A little time spent up front before choosing can make all the difference when your or your loved ones health is on the line.

A COMPARISON OF LIQUID HOPE TO NESTLE'S COMPLEAT® ORGANIC BLENDS

These are two very different formulas. The differences should be noted by clinicians and care providers, as they may significantly alter the overall metabolism of a patient.

FIRST DIFFERENCE, primary sources of energy. Liquid Hope relies extensively on organic garbanzo beans, organic starchy vegetables, and organic flax seed oil. This provides the majority of the formula’s calories from low fructose vegetables and an oil exceptionally high in omega 3 fatty acids. We feel that based on scientific research(1,2,3,4) it is beneficial to have the lowest fructose content possible while still utilizing a vegetable-based recipe.

Our goal has always been to have our formulas provide low percentages of calories in the form of sugar, regardless of whether they are added or "naturally occurring". We feel strongly that large amounts of naturally occurring sugar, particularly those rich in fructose such as with fruit purees, is an unnecessary metabolic risk for the production of excess uric acid(5).

Liquid Hope contains 9 grams of sugar, primarily from sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas. This represents 8% of calories and contains less than 2 grams of fructose. Nestle Organic Compleat contains 17 grams of sugar, much of which comes from mango or pear purees, both of which have high percentages of their overall sugar in the form of fructose. This represents 18% of calories in the way of sugar. The Nestle Organic Compleat nutrition profile does not have the fructose content of its formulas available at this time.

SECOND MAJOR DIFFERENCE, Liquid Hope has a 3:1 ratio of omega 3 fatty acids to omega 6 fatty acids. This is consistent with scientific research demonstrating reduced inflammation and improved outcomes in adults when compared to omega 6 fatty aciddominant ratios(6,7,8). Nestle Organic Compleat does not have information available regarding their omega fatty acid ratio at this time.

THIRD MAJOR DIFFERENCE, Liquid Hope does not use chicken in any formula. We feel that it is better to avoid the significant amounts of omega 6 fatty acids found in chicken, particularly the dark meat used in some of Nestle Organic Compleat formulas. Although essential in very small amounts, larger amounts of the omega 6-fatty acid, arachidonic acid (AA), produces more inflammation. The dark meat of chicken is one of the richest sources of archidonic acid(9,10).

FOURTH MAJOR DIFFERENCE, Liquid Hope contains 450 calories per pouch and Nestle Organic Compleat contains 380 calories. This requires a more careful cost analysis on those within accounting departments.

A COMPARISON OF NOURISH TO NESTLE'S COMPLEAT® PEDIATRIC ORGANIC BLENDS

These are two very different formulas. The differences should be noted by clinicians and care providers, as they may significantly alter the overall metabolism of a patient.

FIRST DIFFERENCE, primary sources of energy. Nourish relies extensively on organic garbanzo beans, organic starchy vegetables, and organic extra virgin olive oil. This provides the majority of the formula's calories from low fructose vegetables and an exceptionally high quality olive oil with significant anti-inflammatory attributes. We feel that based on scientific research(1,2,3,4) it is beneficial to have the lowest fructose content possible while still utilizing a vegetable-based recipe.

Our goal has always been to have our formulas provide a low percentage of calories in the form of sugar, regardless of whether they are added or "naturally occurring". We feel strongly that large amounts of naturally occurring sugar, particularly those rich in fructose such as with fruit purees, is an unnecessary metabolic risk for production of excess uric acid(5).

Nourish contains only 7 grams of sugar, primarily from sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas. This represents 7% of calories and the formula contains well under 2 grams of fructose. Nestle's Organic Compleat Pediatric formula contains 17 grams of sugar, much of which comes from mango or pear purees, both of which have high percentages of their overall sugar in the form of fructose. This represents 19% of calories in the way of sugar. The nestle Organic Compleat pediatric nutrition profile does not have the fructose content of its formulas available at this time.

SECOND MAJOR DIFFERENCE, Nourish does not use chicken as a protein source. We feel that it is better to avoid the significant amounts of omega 6 fatty acids found in chicken, particularly the dark meat used in Nestle Organic Compleat formulas. Although essential in very small amounts, larger amounts of the omega 6-fatty acid, arachidonic acid (AA), produces more inflammation. The dark meat of chicken is one of the richest sources of arachidonic acid(6,7). Nestle Organic Compleat does not have information available at this time regarding the omega fatty acids in their formula.

THIRD MAJOR DIFFERENCE, Nourish contains 400 calories per pouch and Nestle Organic Compleat Pediatric formula contains 360 calories. This requires a more careful cost analysis on those within accounting departments.
