Our daughter was born four months early. She was a micro preemie and was in the NICU for 417 days. She has undergone 12 surgeries, thousands of blood draws, months of being on a breathing tube, and now has a trach and is on a ventilator to help her breathe while she continues to grow.
She finally came home after spending all of her “firsts” in the hospital over a year. She has a g-tube and gets all of her nutrition through this tube. As she aged, we were told to switch her from infant formula to something for toddlers. She had so many issues with vomiting, spit ups, and gas when transitioning from infant formula to food. She wasn’t growing as well as they would like because she was puking up a lot of her nutrients. We tried implementing a Farrell bag to help with the gas, but I also wanted to switch her food to something more whole foods-based because this was essentially her only source of food. One of our nurses works in another home with a tube-fed patient, and she said they used Nourish. I did some research online, spoke with my medical team, and also asked other parents that are a part of online groups for mom’s that I follow.
