Fiona’s Story

"We have so much amazing support"

Talk about a turn of events…For years we struggled with getting Fiona to gain weight. She was always so far below the growth chart that the threat of a hospitalization always loomed over our heads. And we did end up hospitalized several times because of it.

But now, three years after her last FTT (failure to thrive) related hospitalization, three years after starting Nourish, and just four months post op from getting her gastric electro stimulator implant…she is gaining so well that we have to reduce her food intake! You heard me right!!

When she starts her feeding therapy, the dietitian will give us a new feeding plan which will likely incorporate more bolus feeds (giving her Nourish or puréed food through her G port – stomach port using a syringe instead of using a pump over many hours). She will also be getting off her night feeds and she will start getting breaks during the day. We can’t wait!!

We can’t thank our team of doctors, nurses and therapists, past and present, enough. We have so much amazing support.

Oh! And I’m finally starting to understand parents that complain about constantly buying clothes because they grow out of them so fast. No more using clothes for 2+ years for us.
