Alix’s Story

I wanted to let you know what a difference you have made in my daughter’s life. She has a condition called Marfan syndrome which is a connective tissue disorder that mostly affects the eyes, heart, and bones, but also the lungs and GI system, among other things. People with Marfan tend to be very tall and thin, and my daughter was so underweight at age 7 that we finally agreed to a g-tube. We had been holding off for a long time because we didn’t believe there was anything we could do to help our daughter gain weight. After she got the g-tube, the nutritionist in the hospital told us to use another formula, which we gave her overnight every day for about a year. She gained 5lbs quickly but then plateaued. And she threw up or felt nauseated almost every morning. I joined a Facebook group for parents of kids with g-tubes and learned about a  “Challenge” where parents ate nothing but the standard feeding tube formula being recommended for our kids for 24 hours and described how terrible they felt with headaches and nausea and just not feeling well. And then I learned about Functional Formularies.

I started giving my daughter Nourish right away, and it made all the difference in the world. She immediately tolerated the formula and felt great! With the help of a different nutritionist, I learned the best way to add calories to her diet so that she would gain weight. And nearly 7 years after getting the g-tube, she had the site surgically closed a few months ago. I truly don’t believe we would have gotten to that point without your product.
