About Course

There are several significant neurological changes that occur during aging. Many of these impair cognitive function, balance, mood, and other critical components of brain health. Increasingly, components of an individual’s lifestyle have been shown to have a major influence on the trajectory of the aging process, most notably that of the brain. A dependence on carbohydrate metabolism, an increase in insulin resistance, and a combination of a variety of pro-inflammatory dietary factors may contribute to an accelerated cognitive decline in older adults.

Ketogenic diets have long been used as an effective treatment for epilepsy; however, the mechanism of action is not clearly understood. This webinar will take a deep dive into the specific processes that ketone bodies play in the brain and how ketones may ameliorate the aging brain process. In addition, it will cover practical ways to encourage the incorporation of healthy brain foods into the daily diet and what specific nutrients in these foods can help contribute to improved brain health.
