Why Peptide Proteins and Medium Chain Triglycerides Offer Optimal Absorption and Nourishment

Peptide proteins are absorbed more efficiently and support more rapid growth and recovery rates. Improving clinical outcomes for those patients requiring increased nutrient bioavailability is often a major metabolic challenge. There’s a growing body of evidence that protein digestion can be significantly limited in many conditions and with increased age. Larger, intact proteins may present the immune system with unique challenges. Numerous issues alter gut permeability and allow protein into systemic circulation. This is responsible for increased inflammation, insulin production and a contributing risk to insulin resistance.

Additionally there are often limitations on fatty acid metabolism. Many patients have compromised health and/or gut ecosystems due to insufficient bile or pancreatic lipase deficiencies. Malabsorption of fatty acids can be resolved with the use of medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). MCTs have significantly higher absorption rates even in the absence of normal bile or lipase secretion. Due to the metabolic advantages offered by MCTs, their use with those patients requiring weight gain or catch up growth can be critical.
