Brown Rice Protein
The brown rice protein used in Functional Formularies' enteral formulas has been proven to be as effective as whey protein in terms of both its ability to support growth and development as well as in its overall absorbency. Additionally, this protein is sourced from farms with the highest quality control where soil and rice samples are rigorously tested for contaminants such as arsenic and other possible agrochemicals. These tests are always below detectable limits, the lowest levels used in the industry. Additionally, this whole-grain brown rice protein is processed without the use of hexane or any other chemical solvents.
As for the use of this plant protein in Liquid Hope and Nourish, it was chosen for several reasons. Brown rice protein is not a common allergen and does not contain any of the more common proteins that cause a variety of intolerances and/or allergies. Casein and soy protein isolates, for instance, are responsible for a large number of adverse reactions in both children and adults. Functional Formularies aims to produce an organic, whole food meal replacement that meets the nutritional requirements and is tolerated by the largest population.
