As youve explored nutrition options for yourself or a loved one, you may have come across the term GMO.

GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism. In food, this means a plant or animal that has resulted from genetic modification gene-splicing done in the interest of making a food larger, more flavorful and above all, cheaper to produce. If youve come across a potato as big as your head, or a tomato as large as one of Hulk Hogans hands, youve seen a GMO food.

There has been a lot of debate over GMOs and their safety. I particularly remember being horrified by a story on a study where GMO corn-fed rats developed frightening tumors. But as that debate rages on, there is no confusion about the safety and health benefits from natural, organic foods. Organic foods, by definition, are not genetically modified in any way. By purchasing and consuming organic foods you also avoid foods that have been doused in harmful pesticides and foods that have been packed with artificial preservatives and other unnatural additives.

If youre looking for healthy, non-GMO options for enteral feeding, Liquid Hope is currently the only product that can offer this. Beware products that say they cook out GMOs. GMO refers to how the food came to be and simply cannot be cooked out or processed out. A food is either a GMO or it isnt.
